South Mountain Reservation Hike and Rocket Launching

Pack 19 families,

Rocket launch is Sunday, Nov. 16 at 1pm!
We will still meet near Tulip Springs in the South Mountain Reservation. This is off Cherry Lane in the South Mountain Reservation. Take South Orange Ave. down the big hill, turn right on Brookside Drive, go 1/2 mile and turn into driveway with “Tulip Springs” sign. Park in the larger lot on the right. The course correction is our launch site will be the Shady Brook picnic area. From the Tulip Springs parking lot, take the footbridge across the river and climb the hillside.
Hike will begin immediately after launch!
We will take a 3-mile hike that goes to Hemlock Falls, Balls Bluff, Mines Point and the famous North Fork of the Rahway River. Siblings, friends and dogs are encouraged to attend the hike. Please bring the following for Scouts and Parents.
  • hiking boots or sneakers
  • layers of clothing
  • hats and gloves (they’re lightweight and reduce grumpiness)
  • water
  • snack or small lunch
  • daypack or knapsack — with all the leaves and rocks you’ll want your hands free
See you Sunday at 1:00 pm!
